Danny Morales Jr. (DJ) was born and raised in Douglas, Arizona until the age of 12. In 1987, his family moved northeast when the U.S. Army transferred his father from Fort Huachuca to assignments in Massachusetts. Morales graduated third in his class from Ayer High School, Ayer Massachusetts in 1994. In 1998, he married Martha Aguayo originally from San Pedro, California and a 1994 graduate of Douglas High School. The couple has two sons, Danny and Michael. On August 10th 2000, Morales graduated from the University of Arizona summa cum laude with a degree in Biochemistry and a minor in English Literature. He is a commissioned officer in the Navy Reserve, having served on active duty for 12 years and in the reserve since February 2011. His current drilling assignments are at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale and Papago Military Reservation in Scottsdale. On August 4th 2016, Morales graduated from the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center in Tucson having served as the president of his class. He is currently employed full time as a Cochise County sheriff’s deputy based out of Bisbee. Since returning to Arizona from Massachusetts, Morales has been active in the Douglas community. He has served as: Greater Douglas Chamber of Commerce board member, DUSD board approved parent volunteer, independent correspondent with the Douglas Dispatch, Friend of the Douglas Public Library, Cochise County Sheriff’s Office patrol volunteer, Voice of Douglas founder, substitute teacher in all eight DUSD schools (long term at both middle schools), and as a local youth pastor. Morales is eager to make Douglas a city that draws more commerce, bolsters more local businesses, engages more youth, excels more in education, and improves quality of life for more of her residents.
